CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Lean Six Sigma Programs, Training and Project Support
In the early '90s, the Toyota Production System and like disciplines were evolving into the area we now know as "Lean." Another body of knowledge in the Operations Research and Quality area was evolving into "Six Sigma." And finally, the evolution of Just-In-Time material replenishment and emergence of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems were intertwined into the area we now know as "Supply Chain."
CEOs like Jack Welch of GE and Larry Bossidy of Allied Signal were early champions of these productivity drivers. Many of us in the AIT team worked under Bossidy at AlliedSignal when Lean, Six Sigma and Supply Chain initiatives were driving year-over-year double digit productivity gains across the entire corporation.
We started AIT in 1998 with the recognition that these discipline areas were not separate initiatives, but highly complementary tool sets. Knowledgeable, experienced practitioners could easily select the right tools for a specific challenge and create maximum business benefit for the invested effort, i.e. the highest ROI. Deployment of these disciplines were optimally structured into Continuous Improvement programs that consciously integrated program and project management techniques, top-to-bottom personnel development and prioritization and selection of projects to extract maximum productivity from the investment.

Almost 20 years later, the success of these disciplines and the body of evidence accumulated by AIT and others in our industry is indisputable.
